Profile

Dr Brown is a general surgeon with accredited subspecialty training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic (HPB), and liver transplant surgery. He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a degree in Medicine and a first-class honours degree in Medical Science. Dr Brown was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019 after training in General Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital. During this time, he also completed a PhD at the University of Sydney researching colorectal liver metastases. Following this, Dr Brown undertook three years of clinical fellowship in HPB, liver transplant, and robotic surgery across Australia at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, The Austin Hospital in Melbourne, and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr Brown currently leads the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP). He is an active participant in hepatobiliary, pancreas, and neuroendocrine tumour multidisciplinary teams. He is also tenured as a Senior Lecturer at Sydney Medical School, where he is the coordinator for the Year 2 MD program at Northern Clinical School.

Research

Dr Brown has specific research interests in hepatobiliary and pancreatic oncology, clinical outcomes after hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, and minimally invasive surgery.
